Dahl Blog

Welcome to Dahl Class and welcome to our class blog. You will find regular updates here of all the wonderful things that we are doing in class.

Autumn 1

7.10 Last week the children looked at computer parts and were challenged to draw a computer using paint on the laptops. Some of them were great!! Today we thought about the technology we controlled by pressing buttons and the various effects these buttons can have.

8.10 Dahl class have been inventing machines that require input using buttons and levers. I’m very interested in ‘The Doughnut Dottie’.

17.10 We are really enjoying our Ukelele lessons!

21.10 We enjoyed spending time painting pictures this afternoon. The pictures will be used as props for a Harvest poem we have been learning.

Autumn 2

4.11 Today we created some Poppy art in preparation for Remembrance Day. Keep an eye out for our classroom window display which should be appearing over the next few days.

9.11 Congratulations to Savannah & Kaiden who won the Morrison’s Halloween competition and were rewarded with these fabulously spooky Halloween treat buckets.

9.11 We had a great time orienteering this afternoon. The children worked so hard to follow the map to find the different kite markers. It was lovely to see the children working so well in a team to complete the course.

10.11 Today, some of us started a new literacy unit-Little Red Reading Hood.
We designed our own reading dens for Little Red Reading Hood and then worked together to make reading dens-we read different story books with torches inside our dens.

12.11 Today we explored the idea of ‘connecting’ with others. We talked about the importance of talking to others about our feelings, but also the importance of giving our time to listen carefully to what others have to say.
We practiced the skill off speaking & listening by asking and answering some thought provoking & intriguing questions.

12.11 Today we looked at the Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. The children did a great job trying out some self portraits. We will be looking more at this artists work next week.

16.11 Congratulations 🎉 to Amara, Kaiden & Jessica who were Dahl classes’ ‘most valuable players’ during the Times Tables Rockstars maths week!

17.11 We worked hard today naming & locating the continents and oceans of the world. We also plotted the journey Christopher Columbus made when trying to find a quicker way to sail to Asia but landed in the Bahamas!

18.11 At the end of the day we had a mini party for the children in Dahl Class who have missed out on birthday parties due to restrictions. This celebration was for birthdays September-November. We played some games and had some fun dancing! We will do this again in December for any December birthdays.

1.12 Our Advent promises hanging proudly in our classroom, reminding us how we can prepare our hearts ready for the coming of Jesus.

9.12 The children have had a brilliant day making lots of Christmas crafts. Their masterpieces are now in quarantine getting ready to be brought home for you to see next week 😁
A huge thank you to Mrs Hooson and Miss Burns for organising the day and ensuring the children had a wonderful time.

11.12 Well done to Lily who won our nativity wheel colouring competition. It was a tough choice for Mrs Ashton as they were all so beautifully done. Well done Dahl class.

11.12 Some fun music games and a little demonstration of Dahl class’s developing ukulele talents can now be seen on Class Dojo. Thank you to Mr Fitton and we’ll done Dahl class. I think we’ll be ready for a ukulele concert next term!

15.12 We learnt so much about Christingles today and what each part represents.  We even had a go at making our own!

16.12 Everyone looked wonderfully festive in their Christmas jumpers!
