Year 5 & 6 - Morpurgo
Welcome to Morpurgo Class!
A very warm welcome to all our Year 5 and 6 children and their families! We’re thrilled to begin another exciting year of learning, teamwork and discovery.
Our wonderful teaching team — Mr Gregory, Mrs Bennett and Mrs Hooson — are ready to guide our oldest primary pupils through a year filled with challenge, curiosity and opportunity. In Years 5 and 6, we encourage our learners to take greater responsibility for their learning, to question, to explore and to think critically about the world around them.
We believe that learning should be active, practical and engaging. Lessons are designed to inspire children to investigate, problem-solve and make meaningful connections between their studies and real life. Whether they’re experimenting in Science, exploring the past in History or tackling real-world Geography challenges, our children are always encouraged to learn through doing.
Our enrichment curriculum continues to play a key role in broadening children’s experiences and developing life skills beyond the classroom. Throughout the year, children enjoy taking part in a wide range of exciting activities, from Forest School and outdoor learning sessions to creative clubs and special themed events.
Our enrichment programme also includes opportunities to explore new hobbies and interests — such as learning an instrument, film club, cookery and teamwork challenges — helping pupils to build confidence, independence and collaboration skills that will support them in the next stage of their education.
Throughout the year, our Year 5 and 6 children will be encouraged to develop independence, resilience and curiosity — preparing them not only for secondary school, but for a lifetime of learning.
We can’t wait to see all the fantastic things our pupils will achieve as they explore, create and grow this year!
